HELIOS UB+ adds Support for VMware, Microsoft, and IBM server Virtualization

Posted by admin | Virtual Servers | Sunday 13 February 2011 8:15 am

Hannover Germany (PRWEB) February 4, 2009

HELIOS Software GmbH announced it has released full server virtualization support for VMware, Microsoft, and IBM. As a leading developer of cross-platform networking, PDF, and image server solutions for Mac, Windows, and web clients, all HELIOS server products, including the WebShare, EtherShare, and PCShare cross-platform file and print server solutions, are now fully supported in virtual machine (VM) environments.

Virtualization has become a critical technology as demand for IT services increases, while energy and other costs necessitate a reduction in server hardware. Systems such as VMware ESX server, Microsoft Hyper-V, and IBM PowerVM allow running multiple “virtual machine” guest systems on a server. Several instances of Linux, Windows, and Solaris can run simultaneously on the same server hardware, allowing consolidation of servers, adding hardware flexibility and better efficiency, while retaining isolation of services.

Now, HELIOS has added additional support to ensure that HELIOS Server Solution products running in a virtual machine work with high availability. The load balancing options of the virtualization vendors are supported as well, allowing for the most flexible usage of given hardware resources. Exporting and importing entire VMs allows quickly moving an entire server configuration to new hardware.

“Consolidation of servers, higher availability, more hardware flexibility and resource efficiency can be accomplished using virtualization”, according to HELIOS CEO Helmut Tschemernjak, who adds, “This is demanded by customers worldwide. We are glad to announce that the major vendors of server virtualization, namely VMware, Microsoft and IBM, are fully supported with our HELIOS UB+ server solutions.”

Hosting.Com Launches into Virtual Appliances Market With Microsoft and VMware Virtual Appliances

Posted by admin | Managed Hosting | Sunday 14 November 2010 4:19 pm

Hosting.com

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 31, 2010

Hosting.com, the leading provider of managed hosting, cloud hosting and colocation solutions, today announced the upcoming availability of the Zimbra Mail and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Virtual Appliances. Hosting.com will provide these and other virtual appliances through its widget-based customer portal with one-click automation to launch and deploy virtual appliances instantly.

The SharePoint 2010 Virtual Appliance is a pre-packaged application and virtual machine deployable in a VMware cloud, the first Microsoft virtual appliance available in a VMware cloud, and will cut deployment time and expense. As a Virtual Appliance, the application and OS are pre-installed, pre-configured and pre-tested as a ready-to-go SharePoint 2010 instance. There are no shared resources with other customers as would be the case in a managed multi-tenant SharePoint 2010 environment.

The SharePoint 2010 product launch sets Hosting.com apart in the marketplace by offering a Microsoft application in three varieties to meet varying customer needs. SharePoint 2010 will be available for purchase as a Virtual Appliance, Virtual Machine and on a Dedicated Server. The SharePoint virtual appliance will be available on September 21. Visit the Hosting.com SharePoint 2010 webpage to pre-register to receive product announcements and view the virtual appliance demo.

Hosting.com will offer the Zimbra Mail Appliance through the services catalog it is completing within its customer portal for all private and public clouds. The Zimbra Mail appliance and other virtual appliances will be available through the customer portal within minutes for companies that desire a mail solution that runs on VMware, vSphere 4 technologies.

Craig McLellan, Hosting.com Chief Technology Officer noted, “Virtual Appliances represent the future groundwork for software deployment methods. By providing a Service Catalog of Virtual Appliances, we are able to provide ISVs an opportunity to instantly expose their solutions to potential clients and provide clients with pre-packaged infrastructure slices, decreased install times and a robust catalog to meet their business needs.” McLellan added, “Clients will essentially skip hardware and operating system preparation – within a few clicks and in less than ten minutes, the Virtual Appliance is deployed.”

By leveraging Cloud Hosting along with a Virtual Appliance, Hosting.com customers have the ability to spin up cloud resources in order to leverage that single purpose virtual machine. Customers can launch a Virtual Appliance through the Hosting.com Customer Portal and get the benefits of uptime, portal virtual machine management, and a pre-configured instance of the environment.

Hosting.com and VMware are meeting with several industry-leading ISVs, Application developers and VARs at VMworld 2010 to discuss the Services Catalog that Hosting.com is developing for its portal. The intent is to create an environment for ISVs to develop and quickly deploy virtual appliances to 10,000’s of cloud users and provide a mechanism to sell these products both online and through traditional sales channels such as VARs.

The Virtual Appliances announcements correspond with Hosting.com’s launch of its Cloud 2.0 solution set that primarily focuses on cloud functionality, motion and agility. Hosting.com’s Cloud 2.0 products are being featured at VMworld 2010, booth 1608, this week in San Francisco.

Train Signal Releases Computer Based Training Videos for VMware ESX Server

Posted by admin | Virtual Servers | Thursday 11 November 2010 8:10 pm

Rolling Meadows, IL (PRWEB) January 31, 2008

Train Signal is pleased to announce the release of its new training videos for VMware ESX Server. The high-quality computer training course gives IT students and professionals more than 15 hours of instructor-led training on the rapidly growing server virtualization product, VMware ESX Server.

“With the increase in IT management costs and in the physical infrastructure, coupled with the underutilization of the infrastructure comes a need for virtualization. That’s where VMware steps in.” said Train Signal’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Gary Eimerman.

The training videos give users an in depth step by step path to mastering VMware ESX Server. By the time they are done viewing the training they will:

Discover what virtualization is and how to utilize it
Learn how to install VMware ESX Server, along with VMware Virtual Infrastructure and VMware Virtual Center
Master the Virtual Infrastructure Client’s Interface
Discover how to create clients, virtual appliances, resource pools, clusters and much more
Learn how to clone and migrate virtual machines
Discover how to optimize the hard disks, memory and CPU

The comprehensive videos are a refreshing alternative to the expensive training provided in a classroom setting that can costs well into the thousands of dollars. Viewers can learn at their own pace and at a fraction of the cost of taking a traditional class. The CBT (Computer Based Training) course provides superior instruction that can benefit anyone, from job seekers to network administrators seeking virtualization training.

“We offer practical IT training–not just a bunch of technical details,” said Gary Eimerman. “We actually show you how to use VMware in real-world situations.”

Train Signal’s VMware ESX training videos are taught by David Davis (Linux +, CCIE #9369, CWNA, MCSE, CISSP, SCSA). David Davis has been in the IT industry for over 12 years and currently manages a group of systems administrators for a privately owned retail company and authors IT-related material.

A privately-held company, Train Signal offers more than 30 Microsoft, Cisco, Comptia and VMware computer-based training videos. In addition to VMware ESX Server, video courses include VMware Virtual Server and Workstation, Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Cisco CCENT and Cisco CCNA. The training software is sold on CD and on an external hard drive with the purchase of the complete library of training.

Train Signal’s VMware ESX Server training videos and other training resources are available at www.trainsignal.com. For more information, please visit the Website or call 888-229-5055.
