not sure of any technical details, but I used to have problems with a firewall back when i played on warcraft 3, so a possible solution is to make sure your firewall is turned off.

It’s almost as if Yahoo doesn’t want me to be able to use what I paid them for in the first place. Also, I set it to check my password ONCE a day. It checks every 8 screeens or every 15 minutes, whichevr comes first.

As for web hosting, you buy a plan with “x” amount of space, “x” amount of bandwidth(each time someone views a page of your site, or downloads a file from it, bandwidth is used), and other perks depending on how much you pay.

Once you buy the plan, the website is yours within the plan’s bounds. You can upload, take down, and modify any file that is there. Think of it as a computer that is far away and anyone in the world can access.

As for how easy it is to change and edit, it depends on the scope of your site. If you want a very basic fan site, or hobby information site where the content rarely changes, you could pick up some basic html books at the library and be up and running in no time.
If you are looking to make a blog, you can get software to install on your website that takes care of all the coding work, and just allows you to add content. The only downside to this is you aren’t allowed to have complete control over the look and functionality of your site.
Probably the hardest type of website to create is a social network. If your plans are big you will need to have extensive knowledge of programming languages including html, javascript, cgi, and php.

if you are looking to make a large website, my advice is to start small and work your way up from there.

It doesn’t matter how many websites, but you will at least need a windows server 2003 or newer, to manage websites.

You can use the Domain Control panel on Yahoo!’s web hosting site to add DNS records, pointers, and such. They also have a help section that explains exactly what you are trying to do.
